Autumn (or fall) is the season after summer and before winter. It is often associated with falling leaves and cooler temperatures. Autumn officially begins on the autumnal equinox and ends on the winter solstice. The time of year of autumn is exactly opposite for the Northern Hemisphere and Southern Hemisphere.

Northern Hemisphere[edit | edit source]

September, October, and November are generally considered the months of autumn in the Northern Hemisphere. However, it officially begins on the autumnal equinox (mid September) and ends on the winter solstice (mid December).

Southern Hemisphere[edit | edit source]

March, April, and May are generally considered the months of autumn in the Southern Hemisphere. However, it officially begins on the autumnal equinox (mid March) and ends on the winter solstice (mid June).
